A Chapter in the life of Mariana the Veiled ~

A flutter of nerves...an odd feeling for one as old as she. Shoes sounded brightly on wood, then stone, then nothing but pure earth as she treaded a path so many times travelled. Out... out from the masses... the fuss that befell what otherwise would be an ordinary eve. The call of a lone wolf in the distance, leaves rustling on long slumbering trees and the slight scamper of other creatures of the night filled her ears. For a fleeting moment she found solace in the dark, alone; in a favorite spot that remained unchanged with the years past before letting a long reluctant sigh echo amongst the sounds of the other creatures of the night. Ones like her.
